Craig Bifano, Owner

I started my career in EMS when I was 17 and a junior volunteer firefighter in Pennsylvania. At that time I completed the first responder course in PA. From there I went on to become a Ski Patroller at Montage Mountain and obtained my Outdoor Emergency Care certificate. I’ve been patrolling for the last 22 seasons, most recently working at Ski Cooper and Chicago Ridge in Leadville, Colorado. Patrolling is my true passion and has taken me many places and provided me with many opportunities. It is also what really piqued my interest for a career in EMS.

Patrolling is what lead me to complete my EMT Basic, twice. Most recently at Colorado Mountain College in 2008. Then, I immediately completed the Colorado State IV Therapy course. I spent a few years gaining experience with St Vincent Ambulance and completed my EMT-Intermediate in 2013. All the while working my way up the ranks at St. Vincent Hospital to finally become the Ambulance Service Director. I recently left St. Vincent to get back to my roots working emergency calls, less administration and more patient contact. I am currently on staff as an EMT-Intermediate with Summit County Ambulance Service. And working on obtaining my Paramedic certification.

After working on the ambulance side of the Leadville Races I saw a need for race specific EMS crews. I started 100 Mile Medics to fill this need. We specialize in ultra-racing here at elevation, 10,200 feet above sea level. We work closely with the Leadville Race Series, Lake County Search and Rescue, and St. Vincent Hospital and Ambulance Service to ensure adequate EMS coverage is available on the race course for any emergency that may arise.
